Requesting Unspent Chafee and Education & Training Voucher (ETV) Funds for FY 26

States, territories, and tribes have the option to request federal Chafee and ETV funds that were not spent in other states. The reallotment process is a great opportunity for states to potentially receive additional Chafee funds so they can meet increased demand for Chafee services and extend services to the eligible population up to age 23. Each year the Children’s Bureau issues a Program Instruction (“PI”) that provides the information and process to request additional unspent funds. This FAQ provides a summary of the process and steps to take to request additional Chafee and ETV if they become available. All requests must be made before June 30, 2026.
